Community Engagement

Mira believes deeply in making music accessible to everyone in the community. Classical music is not always a welcoming space for everyone and Mira aims to change this through creative programming and performing in unusual venues. In 2024, Mira performed for Community Keys, a University of Michigan project that places painted pianos around Ann Arbor and organizes impromptu concerts. Read more about the project here.

During the summer of 2025, Mira will be working with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra on community programming through their Detroit Strategy. Read more about the DSO's community engagement here.

Gifts of Art

Mira frequently performs at the University of Michigan Hospital through the Gifts of Art program. These noontime concerts bring the comfort of music to healthcare workers, patients, and visitors. The concerts are also live-streamed for those who cannot attend in person. Learn more about Gifts of Art here.

MTNA @ UMICH

Serving as President and Vice President for the collegiate chapter of Music Teachers National Association at the University of Michigan 2023-2025, Mira has worked to organize exciting projects and events that bring together members of the community. Recent guest artists have included Randall Faber, Leah Claiborne, Scott Price, and DuoMundi. These events bring local music teachers and students to the University of Michigan for educational events and masterclasses. Recently, the chapter hosted the National Collegiate Symposium, which brought together MTNA chapters from across the country for a weekend of exciting presentations and community-building.

Sophie’s Place

In 2025, Mira started a sensory-friendly concert series partnership with the Mott Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan. These monthly concerts take place in Sophie’s Place, the dedicated music therapy studio at the hospital. The concerts are also live-streamed for those who are unable to leave their patient rooms. Patients and staff can come and go as necessary during the concert, and engage with the music through coloring sheets, sensory toys, sound-reducing headphones, and conversation with the performers. This project was sponsored by the MTNA chapter and a University of Michigan Mental Health Awareness microgrant.

MusicalTime Indiana

In April 2022, along with other pianists from the Jacobs School of Music, Mira helped to kick off the Musical Time Indiana concert series in partnership with the Brown County Art Guild. This venue and casual recital format invites community members to enjoy both music and visual art. Mira performed 2 etudes by French composer Cecile Chaminade. Read more about the project here. Mira returned for a solo lecture-recital featuring Black women composers as part of this series in July 2023.
